The curious paradox is that once I accept myself just as I am, only then can I change.

So often, fish don't see the water they swim in.  As humans, the same applies to the air we breathe and how we engage in relationships and the world. Embodied Psychotherapy provides individual, couples and group psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy is an opportunity to explore your deeper patterns and experiences that are not satisfying and may cause you incredible distress.  So often we are overcome by shame, grief or despair that seem to grab hold and won't let go.  These forces can be so overwhelming and old that, no matter how hard we try, we just can't make the changes we want to make or get the results we are hoping to get.  By bearing witness and sitting with this deep emotional pain, only then can we move toward healing.

individual therapy

This is a one-on-one opportunity to talk about issues and circumstances that you may be struggling with. This time is solely dedicated to you and our work together. Many people come into therapy to discuss their concerns around depression, addiction, past or recent traumatic events, generalized anxiety, relationship issues, and/or general dissatisfaction with their lives. We have experience in all of these areas and will guide you through this work.

couples therapy

Relationships can be complicated and difficult at times.  Couples counseling is an opportunity to come in and work with your partner to address issues and conflicts that are standing in the way of the type of relationship that you both hope to have.  By working on communication and understanding, identifying the true source of the conflicts and enhancing the strengths of the relationship, we can work together as a team to create your ideal partnership.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a great opportunity to work with people who share your same experience, strength and struggle.  Working with others who have gone through what you too have gone through can help you to feel as if you are not alone nor the only one out there struggling.

In the future keep an eye out for the following groups:

  • Women's Psychotherapy Group

  • Anxiety and Depression Group

  • Addiction and Co-occurring Groups

Somatic Psychotherapy

The body tells a story.  Somatic psychotherapy is the opportunity to use the information and experience that we all hold not just in our minds but also our bodies.  It is whole person therapy.  We here at Embodied Psychotherapy believe strongly that transformation grows out of physical, psychological and spiritual awareness. Our bodies are not only a great resource that is generally overlooked by traditional therapies; our bodies are also a primary vehicle for the therapeutic process because psychological and physical aspects of ourselves are constantly informing one another. Major therapeutic tools we use are awareness, presence, and recognition and acceptance of what is actually happening in the moment. To truly use these tools means to live in the present moment in the amazing vehicle and teacher, the body.
